In 2018, the local authority in Rincón de la Victoria inaugurated a new roundabout in Torre de Benagalbón, located between calles Lebeche and Pampero. On this roundabout, next to a nicely topiaried tree, is a sculpture entitled San Vicente de Paúl.
The work apparently commemorates 400 years since the birth of the founder of the La Marina College, as well as 50 years since its opening. Presumably there must have been the usual administrative delays, paralysation of works due to lack of funds, wrong land classification etc…
Although the municipal website lists the sculptor as ‘unknown’ (how can that be when it is official?), my guess was it looked very much in the style of Francisco Martín, the author of numerous works throughout the province, and so it turned out to be after a bit of digging. I do have to admit that I only know the names of a couple, maybe three, sculptors so my shortlist was very short indeed.
