Chiringuito El Balandro

Chiringuito El Balandro is located on edge of the promenade in Benajarafe. It has a small terrace at the front with barrel tables (always nice), an indoor area (of course) plus terraces at the back, one being on the sand.

We were on the middle area of three rear terraces.

We ordered a mixture of dishes to share: pulpo (octopus), almejas (clams), lenguado (sole) in a lovely almond sauce, gambas (prawns) and, as I love to sample it everywhere I go if I can, Gambas Pil Pil (sizzling prawns in a spicy sauce).

The Gambas Pil Pil was very nice and tasty, but no bite to it as one has come to expect (pimento or, as recently sampled and I loved it, kimchi).

Sole at El Balandro, Benajarafe

The sole, one of the most expensive items on the menu, was beautifully cooked and very easy to de-bone.

It was a very quiet time when we visited El Balandro, very few on the beach as it was overcast, so a bit difficult to comment on overall atmosphere and the like, but the food was good, as was the service. Nothing to really rave about on this occasion, though.
